Space Festival

A trio formed by Rodrigo Constanzo, Nuno Trocado, and Sérgio Tavares, developing work centered on improvised music and real-time digital sound manipulation. They explore improvisation strategies based on open listening and timbral research, in a discursive development where silence and breath are preponderant in the realization of a common objective space, permeable to intensities and molecular affections that extend and unfold in space and time, from the virtual to the actual.
The trio proposes a dialogue between Constanzo (USA, UK), based in Portugal for some years and prolific in the use of electroacoustic instruments he has built himself, prepared percussion, and computer systems; Trocado’s guitar, who is developing a parallel practice in the field of live sampling; and Tavares’ double bass.
Their approach draws on open listening and timbral exploration, shaping a musical dialogue in which silence and breathing play a central role in creating a shared sonic space, open to subtle shifts in intensity and texture that unfold across space and time, moving from the virtual to the actual.
The trio brings together Constanzo (USA/UK), who has been based in Portugal for several years and works extensively with self-built electroacoustic instruments, prepared percussion and computer systems; Switched guitar and its parallel practice in live sampling; and Tavares’s double bass.
